Here is my family’s TRX City Park review after personally visiting this place a few times.
I’m Sue (a KLite), and I have lived in Kuala Lumpur for more than 2 decades. I’m also a first time mom of an active two-and-a-half-years-old boy! Hence, I am frequently searching for fun and interesting places in Klang Valley to bring my son to visit.
Located at Level 3 of The Exchange TRX, the TRX city rooftop park is one of the latest attractions in KL which opened in November 2023. You are missing something if you have yet to visit the TRX City Park.

What Is Special About TRX City Park?
- Play City
The Play City is a fun place for toddlers and older kids alike. We were impressed by the design, as we noted some similarities to the traditional Malay kampung house architecture. There are three sections here, the one on the left is the most suitable for toddlers while the other two have obstacles for older children.
Do note that there are some metal slides in the Play City which can get really hot under the scorching sun. There are warning signs, so do check the temperature of these metal slides on a hot day before letting your children play on them.
- Water Play
The Water Play section is my son’s favourite area in TRX City Park and the main reason for our visit. Children get to splash around and have fun in the interactive water fountain. Little E loves the interactive sensory mechanical toys installed here and he spent the most time exploring them.
- Play Cave and Waterfall
Play Cave is a mini rock climbing play space for 5 to 12 years old children with slides and bridges. There are many pockets of spaces, and a netted area where the kids can chill and rest. There is also a cascading waterfall to enjoy (but not swim in).
- Sunlight Plaza
Sunlight Plaza is an open lawn green space where you can enjoy a picnic with your family or let your children play with balls.
- Forest Walk
Enjoy the greenery at the Forest Walk. It is one of the quieter spots in TRX City Park which is great for parents or older folks.
- Serenity Garden
There are around 150 local flora species planted here, enjoy the smell of fresh flowers in the air and check out the colourful dragonflies flying around.
- Inspiration Garden
Relax and take a breather at the Inspiration Garden where there are many flowers, plants, and count the fishes swimming in the koi pond.
What We Love About TRX City Park and TRX Exchange Mall
- FREE entry to the TRX City Park for all. Yay!
- FREE Wifi is provided, allowing visitors to access the Internet throughout the mall.
- Many family-friendly facilities. We were quite impressed with the family-friendly facilities available including stroller rental, clean family washrooms, and nursing rooms.
- Water fountains available at the TRX City Park. We saw one in the shape of a cactus! Great for visitors who need a quick sip of water.
- Surau or prayer room for Muslims. You can find one in the Serene Garden at TRX City Park and there is another prayer room located on the concourse level of the Exchange mall.
- Stroller friendly. The TRX City Park is big enough for parents to manoeuvre the strollers.
- Accessible. There were many ramps around at TRX City Park and mall below, making it easy for visitors in wheelchairs to move about. Wheelchairs are also available for rent for the elderly.
- Great views of the TRX Exchange and 106 Exchange. Located at the rooftop, you can admire the view of both the TRX Exchange and 106 Exchange (2nd tallest building in Malaysia).
TRX City Park Opening Hours

How To Get To The Exchange TRX KL
- Driving By Car
We opted to drive here ourselves as it was the most convenient way as we were bringing our son along. Parking here is on the high side, hence we didn’t spend too much time here.
Jalan Tun Razak and SMART Tunnel are the two options that you can enter from. Make sure you follow the signs for The Exchange Mall after entering the car park.
- By E-hailing Service/Grab
It is recommended to get drop-off at the Exchange 106 lobby if you plan to use Grab (Malaysian e-hailing option) to get here. You can easily walk to the TRX City Park as it is just across.
MRT is another option to get to TRX City Park. Take the MRT to Tun Razak Exchange Station and exit through the pedestrian link to get to MRT Exchange A Exit – The Exchange Mall.
- Walking from Bukit Bintang Area
Alternatively, you can also walk to TRX City Park if you are staying around Bukit Bintang. You should be heading towards Jalan Gading until you reach the Raintree Plaza. It takes about 10-15 mins to reach there. You may want to wear a hat or pack a small umbrella if it gets too hot or rains.
Parking rates on weekdays will be RM5 for the 1st hour and RM4 per subsequent hour.
For weekends and public holidays, the parking rate will be RM3 for the 1st hour, and RM3 for each subsequent hour.
A RM10 flat rate for entry between 5pm to 5am. Maximum per day will be RM30. This will be for both weekdays and weekends.
What We Thought Can Be Improved About TRX City Park
- Nursing room signage was not easily visible
After Little E (our toddler son) played at the Water Play area, we were looking for the nearest nursing room to dry and change him into clean clothing. We didn’t see any sign until a kind passerby pointed it out to us.
The nursing room is located just before the Play City area. It would be better if the signage for the nursing room was placed at a more obvious spot.
- No soap provided in the shower area
We realised there wasn’t any soap in both the ladies and gents’ shower room. Remember to bring your own if you need to use it.
Food & Beverage Options at TRX Exchange Mall
Some Park Dining options that we recommend:
- Shake Shack where we had their signature Shack Burger, Shroom Burger, fries and Bunga Raya shake (exclusive for Malaysia only).
- Kenny Hills On The Park for organic wood-fire-sourdough pizzas, pastas, pastries, coffee and desserts.
- Kanbe Ramen for authentic Japanese Ramen and Tsukemen.
There are many more other delicious dining options at the Food Exchange, Concourse Dining, Premium Dining, and Dining Terrace.
Other Notable Shops At TRX Exchange Mall
- Gentle Monster Store
Visit the Korea-based eyewear store brand selling unique sunglasses with a few hyper-real bisons at the entrance and a giant eyeball at the back of the shop.
- Coffee Break
Get your caffeine fix at % Arabica Kuala Lumpur, Bacha Coffee, or Café Kitsune, where there is a cuppa coffee for everyone.
Best Time To Visit TRX Exchange Mall
- Weekdays
Visit the mall on weekdays to avoid the large crowds on school holidays, public holidays and the weekends.
- Early morning
It is best to visit the TRX City park early in the morning (it opens at 7am) especially if your kids are early risers and avoid the hot weather in the late morning or afternoon.
- Late afternoon
You can stroll around the mall first and have an early dinner and go to the rooftop park later on to enjoy the evening breeze. Your kids would also get the chance to count stars at the Play Cave after nightfall.
- Check the weather forecast before visiting
Ensure that you check the weather forecast (make sure it isn’t raining cats and dogs) before going to have a better experience.
