I had recently visited Aquaria with my husband and my toddler son, and here is our Aquaria KLCC review.
I’m Sue (a KLite), and I have lived in Kuala Lumpur for more than half my life. I’m also a first time mommy of an active two-and-a-half-years-old boy! Hence, I am frequently searching for fun and interesting places in Klang Valley to bring my son to visit.
Aquaria KLCC is a popular tourist spot in KL, Malaysia, and you might be wondering if it is worth bringing your family for a visit. Do check out my detailed Aquaria KLCC review below, if this is on your to-visit place.
I had visited Aquaria when I was a teenager many moons ago and wanted to bring my husband and child to experience the wonders of the underwater world at Aquaria KLCC. It was both their first time at Aquaria and glad to report that we all enjoyed our time here.
We got to see many different types of sea creatures up close and also learned many interesting facts about them too.

What We Like About Aquaria KLCC
- A Mixture of Land And Sea Animals
Most city kids don’t have many opportunities to interact with animals in nature. My son – Little E got to observe many types of animals up close and personal that we elsewise would not be able to see in real life. This is also a great place to bring our little ones to see up to 150 different species of aquatic animals and learn about wildlife conservation.
- Feeding Session at Aquatheatre
We managed to catch the feeding station at the Aquatheatre at 12 noon. There were two divers feeding the many sea creatures here. One friendly diver even waved at Little E which he found really fascinating.
- Indoor Attraction
The weather in Malaysia can be hot, rainy and humid. Aquaria is a great indoor attraction for visitors to beat the tropical heat as it is fully air conditioned.
- 90-Meter Long Underwater Walkway Tunnel
We were mesmerised to see and enjoyed the feeling of being surrounded by various sea creatures especially large sharks and Manta rays.
- Good Accessibility
Visitors in wheelchairs and parents with strollers could easily move around in the centre easily.
- Baby Changing Room
As we explored the place, we noticed that there is a baby changing room for parents who need to change their baby’s diapers.
- Top Aquarium in Malaysia
Aquaria is one of the largest aquarium in Malaysia and top 5 aquariums in the South East Asia region.
What We Didn’t Like About Aquaria KLCC
In general, we enjoyed ourselves at Aquaria KLCC, but there are some parts which we think could have been improved.
- Ticket was slightly expensive
We found that the admission ticket price was slightly expensive. It can be costly for a family with many children to go visit.
- No nursing room
One disadvantage is that there’s no nursing room at Aquaria KLCC. The nearest nursing room is located in Suria KLCC mall. Parents that need to nurse their child may find this to be a bit inconvenient.
- Other cheaper or free attractions nearby
KLCC is a popular tourist spot with many interesting attractions. There are plenty of cheaper or free attractions to visit as an alternative.
- Smaller than some other top aquariums in Asia
Aquaria KLCC Activities
Here are some of the activities at Aquaria that were the highlight of our visit.
- Interactive Touch Pool – Touch and feel sea life including starfishes, brown-banded bamboo sharks and horseshoe crabs.
- Evolution Zone – see a big group of red-bellied piranhas.
- Jewels Of Jungle – We get to see tokay geckos showing off their ability to climb any surface, including glass windows and walls. Little E was excited and happy to see the active and playful Asian small-clawed otters who are great swimmers interacting with the staff who were in their exhibit. Also don’t miss out on the electric eels which can produce up to 650 volts of electric voltage.
- Shipwreck – Red lionfish with majestic fan-like striped fins.
- Station Aquarius – Observe a smack of moon jellyfish floating / dancing in a calming motion in the water.
- Flooded Forest – This area was quite a sight to behold. There was a huge water column tank wrapped around a large flight of stairs which housed a giant tree trunk within. Arapaimas, Alligator garfish and other large fishes were swimming in open water tanks here. If you are in this section during the feeding session, you will be able to see the Arapaimas eating by sucking up their food like a vacuum.
- Coastal Zone – We saw some archerfish and mudskippers in this zone. Did you know that an Archerfish can shoot up to seven streams in one mouthful of water at its prey?
- Living Ocean – This section housed sand tiger sharks, green sea turtles, and a giant moray eel. We learnt some cool facts such as the giant moray eel changes its body colour from tan to brownish colour as they grow!
- Weird and Wonderful Zone – Don’t miss the large solo red Octopus at the end of this section.

What Is Special About Aquaria KLCC?
- Sleep With Sharks
We learned about this children’s programme (suitable for children above 5 years old) which requires advanced booking of at least one month ahead. The package requires a minimum of 20 pax. Besides sleeping with the sharks, the package includes feeding sessions, hands-on night activities, and night tours.
- Cage Rage (Activity for Adults)
If you are a diver and looking for a more adventurous activity in Aquaria KLCC, you would love this. Or do you love to get up close underwater to sea creatures but don’t have a diving licence? You can still make your dream come true through this activity. Visitors get in the water in an underwater cage accompanied by their experienced resident diver staff in a safe environment to see various sea creatures, such as sharks and stingrays.
Aquaria KLCC Ticket Price
I highly recommend that you buy your tickets via the Klook website as the price is slightly cheaper than buying direct from the Aquaria sales counter. There are different prices for weekdays and weekends, Malaysian and Non-Malaysian and family combo packages too.
We purchased our Aquaria tickets on Klook the day before our planned visit for 2 adults on a weekday. The buying process was easy and straightforward. We saved RM9.25 per adult (17.8%) by getting our Aquaria tickets on Klook. Little E’s admission was free as there is no need for children under 3 years old to buy an entry ticket.
You can even buy your entry tickets on Klook in front of the Aquaria and get instant confirmation as well.

Is Aquaria KLCC Worth It?
In my opinion, yes, it is definitely worth the time and effort to visit Aquaria KLCC if it is your first time visiting. Although Aquaria might be smaller than other aquariums in the world, there are a wide range of interesting animals that you can view.
If you want to bring your Aquaria experience to another level, consider the additional activities like Cage Rage or Dive with Sharks (this would be more of an activity for mum and dads, not for the kids).
